A Hull & the Tattered Cordage of His Will
Cy Jarvis — known online as Marquisdejolie — is a storyteller, filmmaker, and self-described “man of leisure” based in Shreveport, Louisiana. For nearly two decades, he has been documenting the vivid, eccentric, and deeply human characters that populate his world: from the kitchen-table dramas of his family to the gritty streets of Los Angeles where he once lived as an urban nomad.
“To you I offer my hull and the tattered cordage of my will.”
His Facebook page is a surrealist gallery — a cover photo that collides dragons, soldiers, UFOs, and the neon sign of the Motel Marquis into a single vivid canvas. His YouTube channel, with over 4,500 subscribers and more than 1,100 videos, spans everything from the legendary Table Drama series to recent dispatches about gym life, neighborhood characters, and the trials of a driver’s license test.
Cy studied at El Camino College and attended Marshall High School. He is a Southern storyteller in the truest sense — equal parts philosopher, comedian, and chronicler of the overlooked.

What the Audience Says
“Outsmarting A Con Artist” is one of the funniest things I’ve ever watched. Cy has a gift for making you feel like you’re right there at the table with him.
“Absolutely Crazy” — I’ve watched this at least five times. The man is a natural storyteller. Nobody else is making content like this.
Allergic To Xanax is a masterpiece of short-form storytelling. 1 minute and 33 seconds that says more than most hour-long documentaries.
The cover photo alone tells you everything you need to know: this is someone who sees the world differently, and is generous enough to show you.
“Feral Cats” and “The Hollywood I Know” — these videos are like dispatches from another planet. Cy’s LA is not the LA you see on TV.
Scrappy Cat Jack is the content I didn’t know I needed. Cy has a way of finding the extraordinary in the completely ordinary.
